Day 4. Aug 2: Donahue Pass to Garnet Lake. 10 miles.

I was on the trail at 8:10. All the other neighbors were just rising and no one was visible on the trail leading upward in front of me. This would be my third time over Donahue Pass and its a great place to be early in the day.

Early departure from my camp at the lake below

Atop Donahue Pass. Leaving Yosemite behind and heading south into the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area

At the top it was obvious that smoky air from the Aspen Fire would spoil the views of the Ansel Adams wilderness area to the south.

Thousand Island Lake through the smoke

Upon arrival at Garnet Lake I found the campsite I had used the year before. Tomorrow would be a busy resupply day so I made quick work out of laundry and dinner before an early lights out.
