Travel Day

Today went just as planned. CW took me to the Riverside Metro station and I hopped on the 5:40 Amtrak bus to Bakersfield. It was clean, quiet and right on time to Bakersfield.

Public transportation to the JMT, cool!

Down the Grapevine to Bakersfield

In Bakersfield I boarded the San Joaquin Amtrak bound for Merced. It too was clean, safe and ran just 10 minutes late. Waiting for me as I arrived was my brother Don. Together we had a nice trip on the way to Yosemite, catching up on the news of our families and discussed our upcoming adventure.

I'll take this car

A Great Start

Yosemite was a hot 87 degrees and filled with cars and people. I was able to pick up my trail permit with 1 hour to spare.
Soon we checked into Curry Village and got the very same tent cabin CW and I had last year. This year Don brought a fan to cool the tent, nice. We had a nice cafeteria meal and got cleaned up for an early morning start.

2013: DBW and tent 463.

2012: CW and tent 463.
