On my way I noticed the heavy frost and ice in the low lying meadows. Night time temps were about 34 degrees. Much colder than the August nights of 2010 and 2011.
Muir Ranch was pretty well organized. They retrieved my bucket and had a place for hikers to sort and figure it all out. There were lots of buckets setup to take or give what you needed or didn't need. There were more buckets to sort or recycle your trash too.
I was even able to use the internet on their well wore Apple laptop.
I was back on the JMT about four hours later and 12 pounds heavier. The resupply took about 2:30 hours and the hike in/out was :45 each way. I am glad I got an early start but I wish I could have visited the nearby hot springs as I had planned.
