Last Day. Aug 8. My Final Day on the JMT

Yes. It is difficult sometimes to end something you have planned for so long and received so much support and encouragement.

I have a set of blisters on my heel that I just can't shake. I have tried all combinations of socks bandages etc.

I will hike to Anona lake with my cousin Bryan as planned but I can not in good conscious continue south on the JMT with feet that have the potential of getting much worse.

I am so so grateful for all your support and encouragement. Especially CW and my entire family. They have always supported my crazy outdoor plans. Central to that support is the understanding that I make sound decisions. This is one of those moments. Common sense must override desire and will.

On the positive side, I have completed a key portion of the JMT. I am 50% done, along with my trip in 2010. I am sure I will finish the rest someday. I was able to see some beautiful countryside, meet some interesting folks on the trail, and my experiments with technology allowed me to read your comments and feed off your positive energy while hiking the trail.

Thanks for following. It has been an honor to have you along.

  1. You are really awesome for embarking on this hike Uncle Dave and being wise enough to make good decisions just makes you even more awesome. So proud to be in your family.
